Inventory

Items currently on my desk at work:

1. Pink plastic flamingo cup, acquired at a Hawaiian-themed bridal shower. I don't think flamingoes live in Hawaii, but whatever.

2. Giant purple disco-ball earrings. Given to me at a Mardi-Gras party.

3. Tiny generic super hero, one inch tall. He used to be a pin, but now he's taped to my computer monitor with a snarky paper word balloon message about how I'm saving the world at my job. It's a wonder no one has fired me yet.

4. Pink plastic leaping frog. Won for me at an arcade on Coney Island. One of the many interesting imports from China. I wonder how much of their economy is based on making dumb crap for us to buy? But I will admit, I'm rather fond of this particular dumb crap, because I can entertain myself by staging jumping contests over my stapler, my keyboard, my phone...

5. Yo-yo from Target, my latest acquisition. Target was giving them away at the Kennedy Center Open House last Saturday. A yo-yo used to be much harder to play with when I was only four feet tall. It never dawned on me to shorten the string.

I am a way classy dame. I said as much to my friend, and he replied, "Yes, you are, and I believe that's 'klassy' with a 'K.'"

I keep picturing the contests happening at your desk, and I look at my desk and realize just how boring it is. Though I do have a lovely fluffy pink pen courtesy of guess who.
